Trang An Grotto -What a nice trip! Watch your head!
Our special highlight was our tour to Ninh Binh and the Trang An Grottos.
The complex including Trang An, Tam Coc – Bich Dong, the ancient capital Hoa Lu are the main tourist sites in the province of Ninh Binh and a top destination in Nortern Vietnam travel. Approximately 100 km from Hanoi, 7 km from the Ninh Binh city center, the complex is over 1900 hectares. It is made up of karst mountains, beautiful caves and many historical and cultural sites including ancient temples.
This is the reason why Trang An is called “the dry Halong Bay”.
From Hanoi we had a privattaxi (per way ca 2h). The taxi driver spent the time with us the whole afternoon.
The cost of this was about 80 euros (2,000,000 dong). Since we were on the 5th, it was more comfortable for us than with a bus or with a larger tour to travel.
A tour with the bus would certainly have been feasible under 10 euros per nose. The round 2-3 hour tour (Roundtrip on a small rowing boat up to max.6 persons) has been about 6 euros per person. Here you get really great price / performance ratio. We have crossed 5 caves on our tour – a real adventure. Narrows of stalagmites dotted rock landscapes always lead to a new oasis of tranquility.
After each cave we went somewhere and you could visit the tempel. A shrine / temple is about over 700 years old. We were there in March and of the ca 1800 rowing boats were about 40 occupied. Simply gorgeous to experience such a natural spectacle without the onslaught of many tourists.
